Foot pain can have many causes but heel or arch pain is commonly caused by plantar fasciitis. Plantar fasciitis is caused from irritation to the fascia on the bottom of the foot. The plantar fascia is a thick covering of tissue that supports the arch of the foot. When it is overused, it pulls on its attachment point located on the bottom of the heel and causes pain. This is most commonly seen in runners but can become a problem in anyone that has to stand or walk a lot. Our treatment plan is to reduce adhesions in the muscles located in the foot and calf. This will allow the muscles to function normally and take the strain off of the plantar fascia. Muscle adhesion is the most common source of pain and stiffness and the most underdiagnosed. Dr. Phipps is a level 5 Integrative Diagnosis provider and an expert at diagnosing and treating adhesions. He is able to localize and break down adhesions using his hands. Reducing the adhesions will restore normal strength, flexibility, and movement, eliminating pain and improving the performance of the muscle.
